Drama Therapy Methods 2 introduces students to story making and storytelling methods and theories, through experiential learning.
In classroom practice, students will facilitate a drama therapy activity with an individual, involving story telling or story making targeted towards a specific goal. Students will be required to recognise and reflect on personal responses to working in relationship with participants through story telling or story making. In addition, students will identify and examine the core underlying processes at work.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- appraise storytelling and story making methods;
- facilitate a drama therapy activity with an individual, involving storytelling or story making targeted towards a specific goal;
- recognise and reflect on personal responses to working in relationship with participants through storytelling or story making;
- identify, describe and analyse core processes of change in story making and storytelling.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- communicate effectively, in oral, written, digital and creative forms;
- plan, develop and implement innovative and creative ideas;
- apply critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills to unfamiliar challenges;
- promote and maintain the wellbeing of self and others.
