This subject introduces students to areas of professional practice and equips them to navigate a journey through the profession and develop a career as a portfolio artist.
It prepares students for diverse pathways in dance through developing skills in auditioning, writing pitches, maintaining work/life balance, budgeting, formatting a CV, editing a creative portfolio, applying for funding and grant-writing.
Creative employability is mapped through pathways into company work, independent project-based work or further postgraduate study. Guest lecturers from the dance industry provide insights and inspiration.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- utilise skills in video capture and editing in the creation of an online artists portfolio;
- apply knowledge of budgeting skills to the planning of a dance production;
- develop and describe a proposal for a choreographic project;
- develop and communicate a dance identity and values.
