A focussed series of weekly seminars designed to enable students to locate and analyse a field (artists, theorists, writers and curators) aligned to their own artistic practice. The subject is run as a reading group and critical workshop. Discussion is focussed on critical methods and arguments demonstrated in readings and other subject materials.
This subject contributes to a research pathway for the Master of Contemporary Art.

- create original and interpretive responses in the analysis, interpretation and evaluation of selected works of art and theoretical texts;
- synthesise complex ideas in relation to the interdependence of theory and practice, relevant to own practice;
- critically evaluate and expand own field of practice through drawing on a body of research and source materials.
Generic skills
