Documentary Projects 1A teaches craft skills that cover major aspects of filmmaking specific to the chosen strand of study.
This subject is delivered in practical based workshops, where students learn to apply the skills taught in Screenwriting 1 and Screen Language 1A by assuming responsibility for their production. Each student will write, direct and edit their own project.
In addition, students will crew and collaborate on other student productions within their own year group. Students may elect to produce their project on or off campus depending on the necessary locations. Students are also expected, when crewing on fellow student' projects, to work on or off campus as required.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- make use of filmmaking techniques and equipment specific to documentary;
- carry out pre and post production processes appropriately and effectively;
- apply time management and interpersonal skills to the intensity of the filmmaking process;
- work within a filmmaking crew in a designated crewing role.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- plan and organise work;
- demonstrate developed creative and technical skills in the area of film and television;
- exhibit the ability to lead a team as well as participate as a member of a collaborative group whilst respecting individual differences;
- communicate in oral, visual and written forms.
