Following the aims and objectives of Hebrew 9, this subject focuses on advanced accuracy, fluency and complexity in oral and written Hebrew and builds on the skills acquired in previous subjects. Through close readings in a variety of genres, students further delve into the techniques of how to structure and present more developed, scholarly essays, involving an extensive use of the formal structures of modern Hebrew in a gamut of syntaxial forms. Students are also encouraged to evolve and expand a refined utilisation of idiomatic and conversational modalities through individual and group presentations, as well as to develop a more confident command of the language.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Display advanced accuracy, fluency and complexity in oral and written Hebrew;
- Apply a variety of learning techniques in structuring and presenting more developed, scholarly essays;
- Present more developed, scholarly essays, involving an extensive use of the formal structures of modern Hebrew in a gamut of syntaxial forms;
- Apply refined utilisation of idiomatic and conversational forms, as well as demonstrate an increasing capacity to apply a more confident command of the language.
Generic skills
Students who successfully complete this subject should be able to:
- Possess a grasp of social, historical and cultural of how language is employed in Hebrew speaking communities
- Have acquired the knowledge to articulate ideas through the medium of essay and class presentations
- Have developed analytical skills, critical thinking and independent learning
- Effectively to manage assignment schedules, and recommended reading, essay and preparations for exams
- Have obtained skills in intercultural analysis.
