This subject is available only to Bachelor of Music students enrolled concurrently at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM).
It consists of large and small ensemble and chamber music performance activities at ANAM, in which students will develop their skills in ensemble and chamber music rehearsal and performance, both under direction and independently.
Projects will include two large ensemble projects and chamber music activities.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- show musical leadership in large ensemble, small ensemble and chamber music contexts;
- participate with ability and self-confidence and collegiality as a team member of a performing group;
- demonstrate a capacity to think critically and creatively in matters of style, sonority, balance, ensemble, phrasing, blending and musical gesture;
- apply time and people management skills to rehearsal and performance planning;
- perform technically and expressively demanding repertoire to concert standard;
- engage creatively with the values and principles of ensemble and chamber performance.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- communicate constructively in different social situations;
- develop innovative and creative ideas;
- respond openly and imaginatively to new ideas;
- work as part of a team to achieve a common goal;
- manage competing demands on time, including self-directed project work;
- sustain medium and long-term work strategies in pursuit of personal goals.
