Vocal and instrumental students will develop technique, stylistic awareness and interpretative insight through an individually designed program of repertory.
Individual and group lessons, and sustained individual practice enable the preparation of a mid-semester presentation and an end-of-semester performance.
On enrolment, students are required to email the coordinator to arrange an introductory meeting.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of the subject, students should be able to:
- demonstrate understanding and application of a key aspect of repertoire relevant to their performance area;
- demonstrate an understanding of issues of musical style;
- perform the component works of a program with technical and musical capability.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- demonstrate the capacity for critical and independent thought and reflection;
- demonstrate skills in evaluative thinking, and in the application of theoretical criteria to practical outcomes;
- demonstrate analytical skills in the context of performance;
- plan effectively to meet performance deadlines.
