Overview
The Production Design for Screen specialisation offers students an opportunity to build the skills, expertise and knowledge that are required for a career in production design and art direction for film, television and other screen media.
The degree specialisation introduces students to the professional contexts of design for screen, the history of the discipline and facilitates internships in industry settings, while also allowing the option of a minor research thesis.
Graduates develop design skills and understandings that equip them to engage and make meaningful contributions to the development and production of screen works, including realised film productions within the Victorian College of the Arts.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this specialisation, students should be able to:
- explore and communicate ideas through design for screen production;
- use advanced technical and creative skills in the development of designs for screen productions;
- present designs for screen production effectively, using a range of media;
- evaluate and make informed choices between creative options, on both pragmatic and artistic grounds as a senior member of a collaborative screen production team;
- collaborate with other members of the screen design and production team.
