Overview
The Graphic Design specialisation offers students an opportunity to build the skills, expertise and knowledge that are required for a career in graphic design and related fields, including print and digital publications; interior and exhibition settings; digital and social media.
The degree specialisation introduces students to the professional contexts of graphic design, the history of the discipline and facilitates internships in industry settings, while also allowing the option of a minor research thesis.
Graduates develop design skills and understandings that equip them to engage and make meaningful contributions to the development and production of design projects, including realised interdisciplinary projects within the Victorian College of the Arts.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this specialisation, students should be able to:
- explore and communicate ideas through graphic design;
- use advanced technical and creative skills in the development of graphic design executions;
- present realised graphic design concepts for production effectively, using a range of media;
- evaluate and make informed choices between creative options, on both pragmatic and artistic grounds as a senior member of a collaborative creative arts production team;
- collaborate with other members of the design and project teams to realise graphic design outcomes.
