This subject introduces participants to the key ideas and issues in contemporary educational leadership. Through consideration of evidence-based ideas, engagement with relevant literature and research, organisational case studies and relevant learning activities, students will explore contemporary and emerging issues in educational leadership, develop their view of educational leadership and be encouraged to further this development in the planned area of specialisation.
For Master of Education students, this subject provides preparation for the Educational Leadership specialisation.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Critically evaluate and apply key ideas in educational leadership considering global education perspectives and issues and sustainable development goals for education.
- Develop and be critically reflective of their own understanding of educational leadership.
- Analyse and critically evaluate the work of educational leaders and their role in fostering inclusive and decolonial education.
