In this capstone subject, students will create a short animation production of a prescribed length that will be completed to a professional exhibition and broadcast standard.
The capstone experience will require students to direct, animate, edit, create audio and manage all facets of production planning and execution. Practical knowledge and skills in budgeting, marketing and distribution, studio and entrepreneurial considerations for professional preparation are also consolidated.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- demonstrate advanced animation skills in direction, movement and expression;
- conduct work in progress reviews and apply solutions to creative and technical problems;
- apply advanced editing skills in post-production;
- devise and manage production scheduling to a professional standard;
- identify and organise legal and budgeting requirements for an animation production;
- identify and develop a plan for exhibition and distribution opportunities;
- create and organise professional marketing materials;
- communicate effectively within a creative production team.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- employ a wide range of idea creation techniques;
- respond openly and imaginatively to new ideas;
- manage competing demands on time, including self-directed project work;
- integrate personal reflection into the creative process;
