Overview
Intended learning outcomes
In addition to the learning outcomes of the Master of Civil Engineering listed, students should:
- have gained knowledge and practice in advanced engineering management topics including risk assessment and modelling, cost management, data analysis, statistics and reliability, project management, general management theory, complex systems, engineering contracts, legal, operations management, industrial marketing and client relationships, sustainability and general concepts of project and operational efficiency and effectiveness;
- be able to discuss, analyse and develop business plans and management plans at tactical and strategic levels;
- be able to develop management systems to enhance project that addresses cost, time, quality, sustainability requirements while balancing the need for compliance to safety and risks;
- be able to analyse and evaluate business opportunities and risks normally encountered in engineering projects and operations; and make recommendations to improve the successful outcomes for the projects;
- have had the opportunity to apply and develop research principles and methods in the field of engineering project management.
