Overview
This specialisation critically engages with frameworks and approaches to education policy and governance. This includes paradigms and methods of understanding policy, processes and global mobilities of policy making, and complexities of policy enactment. Through discussion and exploring case studies of education governance across the lifespan, the specialisation will further understandings and enactment of policy that contributes to educational change.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this specialisation, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of current educational policy approaches and debates and undertake critical analysis of key issues
- Demonstrate an understanding of education policy research approaches and methods to support critical reading of the scholarly and grey literature on education policy and governance
- Evaluate and communicate the development of professional practices in policy making, interpretation, and analysis
- Demonstrate an understanding of First Nations' knowledges and contributions to education and policy and governance implications
- Demonstrate an understanding of the ways that education policies and practices can promote respect for diversity and inclusion and address social justice outcomes
- Critically analyse global education policy perspectives and issues, and how education policy can help address sustainability challenges.
