Intended learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete the Master of Public Policy and Management should be able to:
- Explain how contrasting systems of government, analytical frameworks, key paradigms and macro trends shape contemporary public policy and management practices and debates
- Formulate scholarly arguments in the sphere of public policy and management through the synthesis of political science literature and specialised policy material
- Critique real-world practices of policy-making and public management based on theoretical awareness
- Communicate complex ideas effectively in the context of public policy and management
- Apply appropriate theories and methods to scrutinise real-world public policy and management case studies
- Analyse different policy and public service environments in relation to governance and power
- Produce policy research informed by existent body of knowledge in public policy and management
- Design robust, theoretically-informed solutions to public policy and management dilemmas
- Apply relevant academic theory and skills of analysis to professional practice, including policy research, in a specialised public policy context

- The ability to use these foundations and frameworks to examine policy challenges and develop and manage policy solutions in a pragmatic yet innovative way;
- The strategic use of evidence-based research and analysis to develop and articulate a clear case for policy change and/or innovation.
