The Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) program is designed for students who are interested in scientifically-based approaches to understanding and supporting wellbeing, both personally and professionally. It equips students with skills to apply positive psychology principles in various real world contexts, emphasising critical thinking, evaluation, ethical application and professional practice issues.
The program provides a deep and strong foundation of the historical developments of the field, exploring key theories and debates, and combining empirical research with practical applications. Students explore applications of the positive psychology perspective with individual, organisational, and community settings. The curriculum emphasises contextual relevance, critical thinking, experiential learning and understanding complex aspects of creating positive change. It draws on a variety of pedagogical approaches to promote deep learning, connection with others and critical scholarship.
Students choose between Professional and Research Options, both culminating in a Capstone project. The Research Option involves conducting an independent research project, while the Professional Option involves proposing a research-based inquiry project within a professional context.
