This subject focuses on the application of acting methodologies and character development work to staff-led training exercises and interpretive rehearsal processes.
Exploration of non-Australian texts gives students the opportunity to integrate dialect and character work as students will develop transformational skills that extend physical and vocal technique beyond habitual and familiar choices.
Students undertake rehearsal processes and exercises adapting to different directing approaches while continuing to develop their own artistic voice. In applying technical skills to rehearsal and performance tasks, students further extend their knowledge of an integrated actor’s process.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- integrate the internal world of a character including intention and understanding of given circumstances to the external expression of character in performance;
- contribute actively, sensitively and collaboratively to an ensemble rehearsal process;
- integrate direction and feedback in a thoughtful and timely manner;
- demonstrate evolving transformational skills with increased vocal and physical technique.
