This subject explores a range of performance and devising tools, processes and methodologies.
Students will work individually and collaboratively in ongoing classes in Voice, Movement, Devising Practice, and Text in Performance to expand and extend range and flexibility as theatre-makers. Individual tasks, including interpretative, generative and reflective tasks and journaling are introduced. Subject content supports the creation of original performance works throughout the semester.
In applying technical skills to creative exercises, students will extend their performance and devising skills, develop skills in directing and dramaturgy, and in reflective practice.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- demonstrate the successful use of movement, voice, devising and performance skills and techniques;
- advance knowledge of performance styles, theatre-making practice and devising processes;
- reflect on the development and progress of movement, voice, devising and performance skills and techniques;
- apply a professional working ethos in autonomous and collaborative work and in communication with staff, industry and peers.

On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- give and receive constructive feedback;
- integrate personal reflection into the creative process;
- develop and implement innovative and creative ideas;
- respond openly and imaginatively to new ideas.
