This subject extends contemporary performance and devising tools, processes and methodologies.
Students will work individually and collaboratively in ongoing practical classes which include Voice, Movement, Devising Practice, and Text in Performance (Contemporary).
Studio-based practice will deepen students’ vocal, physical, imaginative and collaborative skills and expand their creative flexibility as theatre-makers and support the devising projects of the semester. In applying technical skills to integrated creative exercises, students will further their performance and devising skills and deepen their skills in reflective practice.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- demonstrate the integration of movement, voice, devising and performance skills and approaches in studio work and collaborative tasks;
- integrate knowledge of performance styles, directing and devising processes to the independent creation of original material;
- critically reflect upon collaborative skills development and progress;
- apply and sustain a professional working ethos in independent and collaborative work and in communication with staff, industry and peers.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- develop and implement innovative and creative ideas;
- employ a wide range of idea creation techniques;
- respond openly and imaginatively to new ideas;
- give and receive constructive feedback.
