Intended learning outcomes

On completion of this subject, students should be able to:

• Integrate core principles to develop practice knowledge to provide specialist cancer nursing care that addresses actual and potential disease- and treatment-related health needs.
• Apply knowledge of current and emerging modalities for the treatment of haematologic malignancies in the provision of specialist cancer nursing care to prepare, support and assess people affected by these cancers.
• Employ best practice specialist nursing care in the management of people affected by haematologic malignancies, particularly those undergoing haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and targeted and non-cytotoxic therapies.
• Identify supportive care needs of people affected by haematologic malignancies and evidence-based multidisciplinary interventions to meet these needs, with a focus on survivorship and late effects of treatment.
