Intended learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this subject should be able to:
- Recognise contemporary risks in everyday live and society at large
- Explain how various theories help to understand social perception and responses to risk in present-day societies
- Analyse the suitability of different theories and their combination for understanding and responding to risk in society
- Evaluate different societal strategies to manage risk and uncertainty locally and globally.

Late Penalty and Assessment hurdle requirement: Assessment submitted late without an approved extension will be penalised at five per cent (5%) of the possible marks available for the assessment task per day or part thereof.
