Master of Business Administration/Master of Information Systems (MC-BUSAIS) // Entry and participation requirements

Entry requirements

1. In order to be considered for entry, applicants must have completed:
• an undergraduate degree in Information Systems with a weighted average mark of at least H3 (65%) or equivalent; and
• the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT); and
• two years of documented relevant work experience; and
• a personal statement outlining why they wish to be considered for the course.
Applicants are also required to nominate two referees.
Meeting these requirements does not guarantee selection.

2. In ranking applications, the Selection Committee will consider:
• prior academic performance; and
• the GMAT score; and
• the work experience; and
• the personal statement; and
• the referee reports; and for short-listed applicants
• an interview.

3. The Selection Committee may seek further information to clarify any aspect of an application in accordance with the Academic Board rules on the use of selection instruments

4. Applicants are required to satisfy the university’s English language requirements for postgraduate courses. For those applicants seeking to meet these requirements by one of the standard tests approved by the Academic Board, performance band 6.5 is required.

Note.
• References above to a degree in Information Systems means a degree with at least 60% of specialised information systems studies, including a balanced mix of technical and management topics, project management and professional ethics.
• The interview for short-listed applicants is for eliciting information on the following matters:
– standard of academic record;
– nature and length of employment experience;
– achievements subsequent to graduation;
– reasons for seeking admission;
– interpersonal and communication skills;
– maturity and motivation.
International and interstate applicants may be interviewed by telephone.
