Intended learning outcomes

On completion of this course students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate a superior knowledge and understanding of educational theory in the field of international education;
2. Have an understanding of the theory and practice of educational research needed to evaluate research literature and carry out appropriate inquiry/research activity;
3. Make effective use of the findings of educational writings and research in formulating solutions to issues or challenges in the area of international education;
4. Demonstrate depth of knowledge and understanding that will enable them to be a resource for colleagues regarding issues in international education in particular professional situations; and
5. Demonstrate an appreciation of professional responsibilities and ethical principles in relation to the promotion of learning and teaching which should characterise leaders in the education profession.

On completion of this course students should be able to:
• Demonstrate essential knowledge and understanding of the philosophy of IB Education programmes
• Understand the key concepts of curriculum, assessment and pedagogy that underpin the IB
• Comprehend the intellectual, social and psychological aspects of their work with learners and synthesise theory and practice;
• Evaluate and reflect upon their teaching and on the work of the institutions/ communities in which they teach;
• Demonstrate essential knowledge and skills in relation to effective curriculum, assessment and reporting and pedagogical design;
• Comprehend the intellectual, social and psychological aspects of their work with learners and synthesise theory and practice;
• Evaluate and use constructive criticism of their own work and of the institutions/ communities in which they teach;
• Effectively use ICT to participate in learning communities as a source of professional learning;
