This subject uses case studies to build student competencies in working with complex, multifaceted clinical cases. The content will focus on a range of issues across the lifespan including, diverse cultural backgrounds, mental health, behavioural difficulties, and neurological issues. Students will be required to integrate information from a variety of sources and use evidence-based practice to establish and implement client-focused intervention and education programs. Students will also need to address professional issues and communicate their ideas clearly and effectively in both written and oral format.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Weigh-up evidence-based methodology to differentially diagnose, plan, consult on, and implement intervention and education plans.
- Adapt to solve problems in complex case management, considering all external and internal factors that impact on client care (e.g., disability, cultural, financial, time, resources, other health providers).
- Communicate complex clinical audiological information clearly for diverse audiences and client groups.
- Critically evaluate and appraise evidence to inform clinical practice and to ensure management is client-centred and best practice

- Communicate clearly in written and oral forms;
- Work as part of a team to address a common goal;
