In this subject, students build on the skills acquired in Orchestra Audition Preparation 1 to deepen and refine their approach to auditioning for professional orchestral positions.
Students will continue their tuition in preparing standard solo repertoire and excerpts (for live and recorded auditions), and be given the opportunity to regularly practice and perform audition repertoire with the guidance of leading industry professionals.
Students will also serve on audition panels to deepen their knowledge, understanding, and insight into audition procedures and the complex artistic decisions at play.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- make informed decisions around the selection of standard excerpts and solo repertoire commonly requested at auditions;

- appropriately select, learn and refine repertoire for an audition;
- show advanced skills in critical evaluation of their own performances and the performances of others;
- display growing flexibility and awareness in their interpretation of musical works as appropriate to differing performance situations.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- give and receive constructive feedback;
- promote and maintain the wellbeing of self and others;
- manage competing demands on time, including self-directed project work;
