Students will refine their skills as contributing members of a professional musical ensemble and apply their performance skills as elite ensemble players. Master of Music (Orchestral Performance) students are invited to propose high quality and/or innovative ensemble projects (already in development with professional musicians) to the subject coordinator. Successful applications will be invited to enrol.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- demonstrate technical development as professional ensemble musicians;
- contribute with skill and self-confidence as a team member of an elite performing group;
- perform selected repertoire to professional concert standard;
- exhibit an informed respect for the values and principles of ensemble performance.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- communicate effectively in oral and written language, and in musical performance;
- demonstrate appropriate leadership in group settings;
- promote and maintain the wellbeing of self and others;
- manage competing demands on time, including self-directed project work;
- integrate personal reflection into the creative process;
- make effective use of planning skills.
