Supervised field education provides a focused practice learning experience. Students will deepen their practice experience in areas including the integration of social work theory, knowledge, values, and practice, further develop practice skills, increase their knowledge of the interface between policy, research and evidence-based practice and increase their understanding of the organisational contexts and fields of practice. The second placement is comprised of two subjects taken consecutively: SCWK90050 Supervised Field Placement 2A and SCWK90051 Supervised Field Placement 2B . This subject constitutes the second half (250 hours) of the second supervised field placement required within the Master of Social Work course.
Intended learning outcomes
Knowledge
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Explain difficult situations with clients, colleagues and stakeholders using self-awareness, ethical frameworks, theory and research.
Skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Integrate self-regulation, self-awareness, and reflexivity integrated into professional practice
- Synthesise theory, research, and contextual requirements (such as legislation and agency mission) to inform assessment and intervention planning, or conduct research and make recommendations, and evaluate that practice.
- Demonstrate ability to manage a workload with a high level of personal autonomy and accountability
Application
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Identify and plan methods to address cultural and other diversities, human rights issues and inequities in practice approaches, theories and research
- Integrate knowledge and skills to respond effectively to complex client, or stakeholder situations
- Demonstrate the capacity to work at a level expected from an entry-level practitioner.
