This subject will provide additional advanced material on anatomy and doppler analysis, which would not have been covered at the certificate level.

- Role of Echocardiography in Perioperative and Critical Care Environments
- Safety of Ultrasound and TOE
- Cleaning and Disinfection of Ultrasound Probes
- Anatomy-Coronary Vessels
- Additional TOE Views and anatomical Variants
- Anatomy-Other Structures
- Estimation of Intraventricular and PA Pressures
- Normal Doppler Values
- Calculations Workshop
- Principles of PISA
- Paediatric and Obstetric Conditions
Intended learning outcomes
The completion of the subject, students should:
- Understand the role of echocardiography in perioperative and critical care environments
- Understand the safety of ultrasound and transoesophageal echocardiography
- Understand cleaning and disinfection of probes
- Understand the anatomy of coronary vessels
- Understand additional views and anatomical variants
- Estimate intra-ventricular and pulmonary artery pressures
- Understand principles of PISA
- Understand paediatric and obstetric conditions
- Review 20 echocardiography studies
Generic skills
- Enhance time utilisation
- Improve written skills and problem solving skill
All students are expected to have access to a computer that can operate a Windows platform or simulation.

Eligibility and requirements
Prerequisites
Admission into one of the following:
- GD-CLINUS Graduate Diploma in Clinical Ultrasound
- MC-CU Master of Clinical Ultrasound
This subject is not available for students admitted in any other courses.

It is recommended that the following are completed before undertaking this subject:
