Drama Therapy Methods 4 introduces students to psychodrama, playback theatre and therapeutic theatre performance, through experiential learning.
In classroom practice students will experience a group drama therapy approach that integrates a range of methods and reflects on underlying core therapeutic processes.
Students will further identify and demonstrate responsibilities of drama therapists in facilitating closings and endings.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- appraise related drama therapy methods of psychodrama, playback or therapeutic theatre performance;
- facilitate group drama therapy experience that integrates a range of methods;
- identify and demonstrate responsibilities of drama therapists in facilitating closings and endings;
- expertly explain and critically reflect on a number of underlying core therapeutic processes.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- communicate effectively in oral, written, digital and creative forms;
- apply critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills to unfamiliar challenges;
- promote and maintain the wellbeing of self and others;
- integrate personal reflection into the creative process.
